[Action: Awakening ((Closed))]
[Sasuke is not enjoying getting used to being unsure of things. But he is - unsure - and finds that while the things he is unsure of are troubling, the state of unsurety isn't as terrifying as it used to be.]
[Right now, there are two very important things he's unsure of: whether he's alive or dead, and, if the second, whether this is heaven or hell.]
[The last thing he remembers? His deranged excuse for a... cousin of sorts? Taking on the ten-tails as its container. And now he's here - wherever here is - standing in a stranger's bedroom, holding a photograph of his brother with (presumably) that stranger. He awoke nearly naked with a pair of wings sprouted from his own back, and now he's somewhere with evidence of one of the dead. What else could have happened?]
We lost, huh...?
[Something like guilt makes a feeble case for life in his chest, but it's hard to feel guilty when you don't remember an ending. Instead he's just... staring at this photograph. One thumb swipes idly across the cool glass, over Itachi's face, half-expecting it to vanish once obstructed. It doesn't.]
[He's not sure whether to feel a sense of final relief - he's here, and, it seems, so is Itachi - or sick doom - who the hell is this complete stranger who's gotten to share in his brother's... something. Not life, maybe, but...]
[The Itachi in the picture is almost smiling, and his eyes look more alive than Sasuke remembers since they were very small.]
[Action: Examination ((Sometime Later; Open))]
[Sasuke is - a little bit of everywhere. He doesn't exactly believe... most of this. Half thinks this is some sadistic side-plot in Obito's (Madara's?) ridiculous Moon's Eye genjutsu (keeps having to remind himself he wouldn't know that exists if that were the case). So he's exploring - barracks, apartments, the shrine, the forest - here one moment, maybe lingering to examine (Sharingan blazing red the entire time) - and then gone in a flicker, off to the next place. He's not taking particular care to remain hidden (really, he doesn't care who sees him in what may be a fake or an illusion or a dream), but he's not being loud about his presence either.]
[Follow-Up Action: Drained ((Closed to Sakura))]
[One thing Sasuke should maybe have done was paid attention to the tidbits he's heard about halved powers, weakened chakra, difficulty... being, as a shinobi.]
[Because now, feeling more physically real than he has the entire time he's been here - how could he be this bone-tired in a dream? - he's slumped on hands and knees on the riverbank just to the north of town, eyes fading back and forth between blazing red and dim grey-black, breath harsh in and out of his lungs. How did he run so quickly out of chakra? How did Sharingan run him so quickly out of chakra?]
[His eyes fade back to dull black and stay there at last, and he lifts a hand to brush sweaty bangs out of his eyes, feeling at once overheated and clammy. Maybe he's had his question answered, finally, and this is hell.]
[Voice: Greeting ((Sometime Later; Open))]
--believe this thing - hm.
[It's a voice some will recognize.]
If paper can really record - whatever. I'm told I've been here before. I don't think I believe that. I certainly don't remember it.
Some of you know me. That's fine. Some of you would rather you didn't, and that's fine too.
I don't know what you know and I don't know what kind of bullshit this jutsu or hell or whatever it is is pulling, and I don't entirely care.
You should know I'm no longer an enemy of Konoha.
Believe me or don't, but I don't intend to fight you.
[There's a shift, and a few long seconds of tape-recorder not-quite-silence, followed by a muffled shuffle of movement over paper before the recording ends.]

no subject
[There's the barest edge of a wry smile in his voice.]
I'll tell you what I know if you like, but not here. I don't trust these strange journals that anyone can read.
no subject
Alright. How soon do you want us to meet?
no subject
Apparently I don't have to be in much of a hurry here.
No earlier than tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, whatever suits you.
[His voice is bland and dull, and he's making utterly no effort to use any kind of venerating speech forms, but at least he's not being violently disrespectful.]
no subject
[It feels odd adhering to someone else's time, but Minato knows Sasuke just got here and he'll need settling down. That's what he and his family had to undergo a couple of months ago too, after all.]
There's a fountain near the village shops. We can meet there.
[At least, he thinks he has the right to decide the location.]
[voice -> action]
[And the next afternoon, there he is, standing silent by the pleasant murmur of the fountain's bubble, unmistakeable with the Uchiha crest brilliant on the back of his jacket, making no effort to remain hidden. He's not unguarded or unarmed, but the chokutou in his belt is sheathed, and his hands are loose in his pockets. He's making an effort to not look like a threat, but he's also not going to be caught off-guard if someone decides to be stupid about this.]
[action] sorry for the late, bb 8(
Today, he has all the information he needs after gathering everyone involved yesterday afternoon. He's not the confused Namikaze Minato yesterday when he first talked to him.
If Sasuke has his clan crest on his jacket, Minato has the words 'Fourth Hokage' on his cloak as he approaches the young man with a small smile.]
Uchiha Sasuke.
[action] lmao and then I hiatused and flailed in a circle forever speaking of late
Yondaime Hokage.
[Sasuke turns to face Minato fully, drawing his hands out of his pockets and letting them hang at his side, a deliberate show that he's not hiding anything.]
I'm going to assume you've heard from others about me. How much do I still need to explain?
[action] it's fiiiine <333
Minato also takes quick note of Sasuke's hands, finding it agreeable that he's not hiding anything. At his question, though, Minato briefly wonders what to answer. Kakashi had explained everything well, but then most of everyone's stories only covered so much.
He only wants to know one pressing matter here, he realized.]
Why are you no longer an enemy of Konoha?
[action]
Many reasons. The short form is that you and the previous three Hokage were all resurrected with the Edo Tensei. So was my brother.
[A beat. Sasuke frowns at nothing for a moment.]
I don't like this thing we call shinobi. What it entails. How many people it hurts. But destroying the people also called shinobi won't fix it. [The slightest pause.] Won't bring back my clan.
Instead I'm going to fix the problem, and stop more people from being hurt like I was.
[action]
Minato nods after Sasuke speaks, a smile playing on his lips as he does so. He understands fully well what the young man said, what he wants to achieve, and it's something that sits really well for Minato. Because this system managed to hurt a lot of people in the past, him and his wife included, and it's this system that also killed his sensei and gave birth to Pain.
He'll brush aside the fact that he was revived along with the other Hokage using Edo Tensei for now. That's a future he, well... can he say it's a future he has yet to live when he's already dead?
Yes, he'll mull on that later. Right now, Sasuke's goal takes precedence.]
Mm, that's a good decision. I take it you aim for peace as well?
[The same peace he has yearned for his beloved village, the same peace Jiraiya-sensei taught him, the same peace he wants his son to achieve.]
[action]
[There's no hesitation, not a moment's pause. If Sasuke had been allowed to come to that decision on his own, instead of spending ten years distracted by darkness and blind self-interest, it would have been his path all along. Given the time trapped here to mull it over, a moment's pause from the flurry of action at home, Sasuke is able to think back on himself at seven and know that for certain. He'd been too young to understand, to grasp the larger implications of shinobi life. If he'd known it, his goal and Itachi's would have been the same. Though Sasuke would have chosen a different way to execute it.]
What I'm not interested in is the idea of peace by any means necessary.
